Mara Sugar FC has officially advanced to the Round of 16 in the FKF Cup after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Appeals Committee upheld an earlier decision to disqualify AFC Leopards from the tournament. The decision stems from an incident during a Round of 32 match at Kisumu's Mambo Leo Stadium, which was abandoned in the 89th minute after unrest broke out following the reversal of a penalty decision initially awarded to AFC Leopards. The score was tied 0-0 at the time. The FKF’s Leagues and Competitions Committee (LCC) had initially ruled that the abandonment was caused by a pitch invasion involving AFC Leopards supporters.
